Beijing trip Part 2
Day 3
Date : 20 Feb 2007
Wake up time : 600am
Temperature : 11 C
Woke up early in the morning, we went for breakfast in the hotel (came along with the package)...
We reached there with most tables occupied, finally settled at a empty table (10seats)... Got our food & wanting to start when 6 other LOCALS joined us... They came from other parts of China to visit Beijing...
"Just finished our meals fast will do", we thought... Was eating halfway when I'm enjoying my porridge & my bro happily drinking his coffee until...
"KOOOOOR-PUIIIIII!!!"
One of the locals sat with us SPIT lo!!! I looked at my bro, he looked at me... Till my mum stood up & say, "Let's go"... *shake head
Anyway it's the day to view one of the 7 wonders!!!
Great Wall of China, built between 5th century BC to the 16th century to protect northern borders of Chinese Empire over many dynasties... It's the only man-made structure on earth that can be viewed by satellites, stretching over 6,352 km... While Singapore only lies 137 km from the west to the east... Do the maths...
Of cos for impressiveness I would still prefer Forbidden City... But let's think of this... Given the mountainy heights & harsh weather (esp during winter), with the lack of machinery, Great Wall is indeed something really amazed that was built @ that time...
But I didn't climb it... Muahahahaz!!! Looked @ this pix of my mum, realised the man in black behind? Take a closer look @ the height of the stairs infront of him... It's freaking hard to climb when one stair is about the height of ur knee!!!
My mum gave up due to her knee conditions after 10 steps... I thought for awhile, decided to give up also... For someone who take lift from 1F to 2F in school, u expect me to climb the hundreds steps for one station & there's 9 stations in total, when each of them the height of my knee?!?!
No way!!! Moreover many of the steps are uneven & destroyed, with 2 pathetic rusty railings besides for support... The steps get smaller as you climbed also, according to my dad & bro who went up... Climb up easy, the hardest part is coming down... Many people came down trembling...
Bu dao Chang Cheng fei hao han... Who cares, I've decided to be a mafia anyway... Wo shi huai ren!!! HAHAHAZ!!! =))
In the late afternoon we visited one of the Graveyards of the 13 Ming Emperors...
The night event is, our own firecrackers & fireworks festival!!! Bought some at a stall near our hotel & lighted it besides the main road... Very good le hor, many locals juz played along the pathway lo... Some of them even played besides people's cars!!!
Feeling, very shiok~!! Muahahaz!!! Really beautiful the effects... Though one small pack cost abt S$10+ & the big ones over S$50-100... But I'm very kuku, dont dare to play the firecrackers... Only lighted up the small fireworks... -Lolx-
Day 4
Date : 21 Feb 2007
Wake up time : 600 amTemperature : 7 C
In the morning we went to some places where the the Imperial Emperors used to hold their offering & praying ceremonies...
After which visited Beijing Underground City, built during the Sino-Soviet conflict... A underground pass that has links to every homes nearby & provide shelters in times of wars... There's library, salon, school, hospitals there... You name it, you have it...
Ate the famous Beijing roasted duck in the afternoon!!! Hmmm... I still prefer Singapore's though... Cos there they ate the skins with the meat, thus the skin tend to be more fatter & not so crispy... Different style of eating...
After that went for leg massage when they said their university school fees was like RMB 20,000 per year including lodging & food... Which is about S$4000 only lo!!! Thus they get a little shocked when I told them mine is about S$5000 per HALF year without anything else... And they're studying Zhong Yi (Chinese Medicine) mind you... Doctors in future...
Day 5
Date : 22 Feb 2007
Wake up time : 900am
Temperature : 5 C
Home sweet home we're coming back!!!
It's one of the worse flights ever been... My cabin was full of THEIR locals lo... They're screaming & shouting on plane, forgetting it's a SQ flight...
Went to toilet, & one woman just banged on my door!!! So rude can... The plane HABEN landed & they're standing up taking out all their luggage... Think take bus ah?! Halfway landing people are filming & taking photos like dunno what... Bth... HAIZK~!!
Behind the screen 1
Nothing much to buy there... But these are the ones I bought back...
Pirated jersey -lol-
Gotta intro abit on the 2 pix above... My idol, Kenny G's cd selling @ S$4-6 there, at a unnoticeable corner... So sad... There's even his 1985 album!!!
As for the bag its a logo of Mr Mao Zedong, pretty cool hur? It is, provided I DARE to wear it out... Same goes for the money-printed Nike shoes (the left pair)... It's real cool & outstanding but if I dont dare, they'll be just ulu out-dated ugly stuff... It's just a line between fashionable, outstanding AND been ulu, out-dated...
A unfinished instant noodle we brought back from China!!! Super thick lo the noodle... Only managed to finish it after 1 hr plus... Cost less than S$1...
Behind the screen 2
My weird dad, who likes to take photos but dont like ppl to take his, always never say "3,2,1" before shooting...
Ended up shooting ugly toot toot poses & get 'scolding' from me... Muahahahaz!!!
